I have my masters in nursing/FNP (1 yr) making <K70 (Indiana) due to low patient census in my role. No desire for a different FNP job nor to return to bedside nursing (RN 5 yrs). I have heard of some individuals with remote positions making >K100 with little to no experience in tech or consulting after doing a boot camp or cert?

Hello everyone. I will be transitioning from the Navy soon and want to work in the cybersecurity field. I have an active secret clearance, BS in strategic intelligence, working on a masters in cybersecurity, and taking Security+ in December. No work experience in cyber, just my education and bootcamp course for Security+. Should I still apply for job that want 2-5+ years cyber experience and/or an active TS clearance?

Anyone that works for DOD have trouble getting their CAC? I work with the Navy and haven't heard anything about issuing a CAC. Did they stop issuing out CACs?

But I also have offers from Deloitte and EY to be a GPS consultant at ~100k. Is it worth it to move to D or EY? I think I know the answer, but want to hear others’ opinions before giving up on the dream. I’m currently at $120k base with 6 yoe. Is there any chance I can get close to that as a fed in the IC? Or am I just looking at a GS11 step 1 that’ll hurt pretty bad? Are there any perks that can help offset the lost income like childcare stipends (the agency mentions a childcare subsidy on their benefits site but I can’t find what that actually means)? Thanks!

Does your firm find out why you failed a clearance ? Asking bc I got fired from my first job out of college a couple years ago and didn’t report it on it company background check. I’m afraid if I fail my public trust, my current firm will find out and fire me for not reporting it on my prior employers.

Do Leidos, SAIC, and other mostly-fed consulting businesses pay bonuses to all levels? If so, what does a typical bonus target look like? Booz Allen does not pay bonuses until you get to the Senior Associate level (1 step below Director) and I think that impacts employee performance and work ethic pretty dramatically. I’m wondering if not paying bonuses is common to federal contracting because of how the contracts or priced, or if this is something unique to Booz Allen.
