Take the animal to the back away from owner and perform services there. Also for next visit have doctor prescribe trazodone or other calming/sedation/anxiety meds.
That makes sense. Do you always take the animal to the back, away from the owners, during the exams?
Definitely anxiety meds. Dogs are typically aggressive during exams & other treatments because they're scared. It doesn't always make a difference whether the owner is in the room or not, but it's best not to have that awkward dynamic between you and the owner when you're trying to treat or examine the animal.
A dog that displays aggressive behavior is a sign that the animal is anxious or somehow scared. Dogs that are usually kept at home which are not used to having people around them would often show aggressive behavior with other people because they have socialization issues. So whether the owner is around or not doesn't really matter.
We recommend the to dog behaviorist and in the office we try to identify what is triggering the dog
