Haha! Would love to know if your focused a certain industry?
I'm not sure any role really fits that description. Some roles have attractive salaries, of course. But work/life balance is a matter where the individual has to carve it out. The boundaries one sets, and how they manage their time and their pursuits determine that. It's not something related to specific roles.
Solid perspective.

It feels like that, but I wish that was 100% true.

If you find, please share it. I feel like I keep taking on more responsibilities in every role I take on, but some organizations reward that and others don’t.
Yeah it seems to be the common pattern, the higher you go up the more the struggle for work life balance

Senior Account Manager or Senior Specialist (paid search, social, SEO)—around $70-90K depending on market. You've got expertise to command respect and boundaries, but you're not yet responsible for P&L or client retention drama that hits at Director level.
Directors+ make more ($100-130K) but the work-life balance tanks—you're managing clients, teams, and internal politics. That's when agencies extract the most hours for the money.
Honest truth: There's no "perfect" role in agencies for balance. The model relies on grinding people. The real sweet spot is Senior Specialist at an agency, then jumping in-house for a $15-20K raise and actual 40-hour weeks.
Are you climbing the agency ladder or trying to figure out when to jump ship?
This is such good advice. I think that senior specialists are in a sweet spot, and your advice about directors and up is so relevant, especially for my job. Thank you!!!
