Oh my God. I saw that Gwyneth Paltrow was going to be the new spokesperson of astronomer and I couldn’t think why they would do that. I didn’t even put two and two together that she used the be married to that Coldplay guy. Either way, no it’s dumb I don’t see the point. Astronomer would’ve been fine in a few weeks, but they’re keeping the story alive.

That was my first reaction. Then I wondered if they are dealing with some fallout we aren’t aware of.
I think it was genius. For a few days, the entire conversation was about the controversy and painted the company in a very negative light. This move completely shifted the tone, and everyone I've seen discussing it has lauded the move as a PR masterstroke. Using humor to diffuse the scandal is brilliant in my opinion.

I gotta give them points for creative thinking.
I thought it was hilarious, but I'm in the small sector of the population that would get the references and the weird symmetry. So it comes off as something a company does for its own amusement. But the copy, while handled humorously, gets across the point that they have a serious business product. And it shows they're dealing with things, so I guess it's successful for that.

The way she never addressed the matter and really “acted” like a true spokesperson is what made the approach so smart. They made their point- move on people.
They're milking the drama and it's pretty transparent. I also think it's a weird move on Gweyneth Paltrow's part, and I don't know why she'd agree to it.

The only question she “responds” to are promoting Astronomer’s services. It’s a big public move to right the ship that seems to be working for them.
This is gross and feels very on brand for Gwyneth Paltrow. Maybe I should have more respect for her because she's good at what she does (being seen). But she's built her whole career on going viral for absurd things, and it's getting annoying.

When employees make bad public decisions, the company usually makes a firing announcement and that’s usually enough for people to move on. This affair will live on as memes and kiss cam jokes. I think it warranted a big public response.
Even though, I don't like that they did that, I think tapping Gwyneth Paltrow’s name was a smart PR move because it draws eyes and curiosity without a huge ad spend. I’d call this a calculated play because they are leveraging Gwyneth’s platform to accelerate Astronomer’s visibility.
Ya everyone is talking about it so they won
