My client is telling me about how painful she finds PAID overtime. While she gets💰, I get %.. & utilization doesn't pay the bills!

How does your firm measure utilization? I work for a small boutique that defines it as utilization = number of billable hours/2,080 and full bonus payout occurs at 80% plus.

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

Just a reminder that outside our bubble no-one really cares about firm prestige etc.

My brother has 8 YOE post his Masters with a US bank in their rates trading division as a software developer- managing, supporting and developing software for pricing trade executions, risk management and reporting requirements for the trading desk. He wants to pivot out of banking and maybe look for an opportunity with FAANG or with MBB/Tier2 consulting.
