I passed CPA and have audit experience but I don’t really understand how industry accounting cycle works :( What does it mean to close the books? Are they referring to 12/31 deadline? Do all JE have to be recorded within this date? How does one close it?

I would like to hit fire between 40-50. Currently 27, 185k total comp (125 for me and 60 for partner). Like my job don’t hate it don’t love it. Does an MBA make sense? I’m guessing it could take me to 170ish with that schools I’m looking at but wondering if the 40-50 retirement range makes an mba not make sense since I’d only have 10-20 years to save vs 12-22.

So I've been at my job for 5+ years as a data analyst/back office support team. I made my way up into making a little over $40k. I've been WFH the past 2 yrs and overtime more than half my team has now been pulled out to work for a diff department which resulted in me taking 90% of our daily tasks to handle. I have family members who are inside claims reps for a large company. The company sends out emails 4 times/day showing who is currently not available for calls. To everyone working in claims in the entire country! It’s been a minute since I worked in claims. And never for this particular company. But is this shaming the new way to manage WFH.? Sounds at least toxic.

How does underwriting compare to PIP litigation in terms of flex time (ability to stop/start work throughout day, work at 2 am if needed, etc)

For example.. in PIP Litigation I can review my suits at 2 am if needed (as a result of having a rough day or other emergency) and still be in compliance

I’ve been working for my State Farm agency as a team member for 2 years. I am licensed in property and casualty as well as life and health, but only make $13 an hour. I technically can make bonuses but I’m not supposed to dig into a sale and I have to send it to a sales rep (I am service and retention mostly). My boss also has me running a retired agents office until a new one is chosen (its an hour away with no pay increase or mileage pay). Also, no benefits! Should I start job searching?

Hello, I have accepted an offer at a competitor company and sent in my resignation letter. My start date is 5 weeks from now so I put in my end date 4 weeks from date letter was signed. The manager said I had to leave the job in 2 days and the company can only play 2 weeks of work. Is it normal how they do that?
