If the company doesn't have any room for growth in one area, it probably struggles with this in other departments too. I would hate to take lateral bids only to be in the same predicament when I wanted to move up the career ladder.
Depends on how the company treats the employees. If the workers are abused, treated like crap, and they operate a toxic environment, I'll leave instead of switching departments. I also want to know the company is growing, creating positions, and not being stagnant.
I think about why I’m unhappy. Is it the company, the role, or the team. The answer can vary especially when there is high leader turnover or departmental changes.
