What hourly wage would actually make your job feel sustainable rather than something you’re just surviving? Do you feel your current pay reflects the emotional+ physical labor, all the abuse from customers, and the constant multitasking you deal with every shift?

Something more like a true living wage for the area, plus reliable hours, not a coupleof dollars over minimum.

The money just isn’t in retail, at least not at the hourly level. The flexibility and not having a strict 9-5 is the only thing that keeps me working here.

52.88 hourly / 110k salary feels sustainable on a strict budget in nyc. i dont handle abuse from customers directly but its enough to make my job worth it.

Everyone I know (inside retail and out) wishes they made more money. Heck, the richest man in the world asked his Board of Directors for a raise. I'd love to make what a Walmart manager makes, but would never work for Walmart. And are you going to tell me that the Walmart manager works harder than I do?

Took my first ever sick day today on account of my very poor and worsening mental health. Just could not bring myself to put in another 14 hour day with back to back meetings and constant activity. Felt very guilty but I honestly wish I could be more honest and actually share with my manager about why I took a day off.

For those also going through this, any tips on how you manage yourself day to day? What self talk tends to help?

Wondering if anyone can share the approximate timeline after applying to Target Corp. to hearing something from them. Applied 9/1 and on the applicant portal the status still says “in progress.” I got a great internal referral, but I’ve not reached out to the hiring manager. 😬 I know there were a few hundred applicants — what’s a realistic timeline and what could I say to the hiring manager if I reach out to them. Many thanks.
