Something more like a true living wage for the area, plus reliable hours, not a coupleof dollars over minimum.
The money just isn’t in retail, at least not at the hourly level. The flexibility and not having a strict 9-5 is the only thing that keeps me working here.
52.88 hourly / 110k salary feels sustainable on a strict budget in nyc. i dont handle abuse from customers directly but its enough to make my job worth it.
Everyone I know (inside retail and out) wishes they made more money. Heck, the richest man in the world asked his Board of Directors for a raise. I'd love to make what a Walmart manager makes, but would never work for Walmart. And are you going to tell me that the Walmart manager works harder than I do?
