I caught a w series race this year and there is not an ounce of competition in that whole series. Also based on Jamie’s comments regarding women in F1 (ie the driver seats and wheels have to change…things that can definitely be adjusted for any driver easily) I don’t think her confidence is high enough to make it at a higher level.

It’s tricky. Due to the already inconceivable challenges 99% of fans are unaware of, the additional toll it would take on a woman who can physically and under equal pressures more than hold her own within the sport, it requires a whole new level of mental strength. Look at how many driver’s talk about mental health and the sport is a small traveling circus that envelopes your entire world when inside it. The tiniest of additional pressure - and a particular type of pressure - can make or break a driver. Hamilton can use the pressure a significant qualifying lap may have for example, but the pressure Danny Ric is faced with - mostly through the media and spectacle around the sport - is a totally different beast. So carrying the aspirations of all girls/young women working their way up the expensive and politically ridden ladder is something I for one know would affect my lap time, and even 1 tenth off the pace in even F3 can be the difference between 5th or 25th.

I don’t disagree with the pressure, but people break through that, that’s what makes them legends. Ham has the pressure of being the only Black man to race at that level, let alone the pressure of having so much he stands for on the line every weekend. If women can endure the physical requirements, which I genuinely don’t know of whether it’s been sufficiently tested, then it’s only a matter of time until there is a female F1 driver, I’m just saying Jamie looks like a pretty good candidate to fill those shoes.
Side note, I don’t think 99% of fans are ignorant of the mental health pressure they go through.
