Cry while working and billing
Sorry I thought the post asked what we did, not what TO do. Glad other people are helpful
I pick a task, put my head down, and do it. Sort of like making your bed in the morning, gets the ball rolling.
Make a giant list. Take an hour if you need to. Then sort it. Use your favorite pen and paper. Drink your favorite non-alcoholic beverage. Admire your work…. then systematically go through the list. I usually add household stuff to it too because your personal life is likely also adding to your stress.
set a crying timer
kinda a joke but i do has the pomodoro method (or my own slightly modified version). First timer is 15 mins to write a to do list/plan. Then i pick the one i’m starting with and give myself a 5 minute break, coffee, shift gears, look outside, etc. Then 20 minutes to work on the task. Usually I end up going over. Another few minutes break. 20 minutes, another break, 20 mins then I do a 25ish minute long break and switch to a new task. It’s an hour of actual work time but I usually can bust out a hell of a lot more by just focusing on 20 min chunks.
Focus on one task at a time. Sticking to this has been a huge game changer for me. We weren’t really designed to “multi-task”.
