What would make you stay in a job where the pay isn’t what you hoped for?

Life. It's easy to say you'd leave if you were undervalued, but reality usually isn't so cut and dry. I'd like to move on for more money, but I've got little kids and don't want to uproot them to relocate, so my search radius is fairly small to begin with. There aren't many opportunities offering better pay near me, and the few that do don't offer hybrid flexibility, which I don't want to give up.

I appreciate your insight

I've stayed for the promise of more money, that ultimately never came. So i don't imagine myself ever doing that again. But yeah, this job market would make me hold onto something while I look for a new job instead of just quitting

I hear you. The job market is tough.

It’s much easier to say than do. It’s difficult if you’re behind on bills. Hehe

Mostly this current job market. My pay is in great but I’ve been looking for another job for four months. So I’m stuck earning next to nothing for a while it looks like.

I can see where you’re coming from. I’m in the same boat.

I would stay if I see myself growing at the company or growing in skills that would help me progress in my career and to make more money on the long term.

Agreed!

I am currently working in advertising with experience on fintech & CPG. I would like to work in tech marketing, specifically Google’s APMM program.
I’ve been studying some PM/PMM books/podcasts/videos, attending Google events, and want to keep learning more to try to prepare myself as much as I can.
What resources helped you get into product marketing/Google?
Has anyone here moved from advertising to tech?
Would love to hear from a marketer about their experience getting into Google.
Thank you

I got a job offer but it's 3k less than the low end of my happy range. But there will be a review in 6 months with the potential for a raise. I'd rather start at the low end of range. What is the best way to ask for that??

Hey fishes, recently got an offer of 245k plus a bonus, but no specificity and at least 3% cost of living annual raise. My current job I make 150k plus a 20% bonus and an annual cost of living raise anywhere from 2-3.5%. Have been in my current position about a year. Things have been a bit bumpy (not a me issue) I have a new supervisor and was recently given 7 direct reports (I had zero before). The new position while comes with a significant raise is a move to California. Any thoughts?

I’m interviewing with a startup and the range has a 40k difference from the lowest to highest point. It’s also pre-seed and comes with equity, and health, 401k benefits. It’s a director of sales role so I would eventually be recruiting and managing a team along with building the processes and strategy. What would you consider a fair compensation package? If they offer me something on the lower end of the range, is it still appropriate to counter with an offer that is over their stated range?

Can someone explain what this means? I “will be eligible”. So, I have to buy the shares? Should I be asking at what price?

Newbie here. Please help!

Should I Go Back and Reneg? Recently I was offered a role as a Project Implementation Manager (In Retirement Services) .The salary range for Colorado residents was 65-89K. I’m located in NY so the recruiter said he would try to get me more. Ultimately he came back at 90K which is a bit inline with that I was seeing on Glassdoor but approx looks like I may leave 10-12K on the table. I accepted already but may get an offer from another HR company in account management around 90-100K. Need advice
