Dublin is cool, but honestly, some of the best experiences are just outside the city. Take a day trip to Glendalough—a breathtaking monastic site with scenic hikes that aren’t packed with tourists. If you must stay in the city, avoid the overpriced bars in Temple Bar and try Grogan’s instead—cheap pints, great toasties, and real local charm.
For something off the beaten path, check out Marsh’s Library—a stunning, old-school library that’s often overlooked. If you’re into nature, take a short train ride to Howth for an incredible cliff walk and seafood at a local pub. And for a cozy, non-touristy pub experience, head to The Long Hall—classic Irish vibes without the Temple Bar chaos!
