Slow analog stuff like museums, bookstores, or just sitting in a café and people‑watching helps me a lot. Sometimes, just getting out of marketing echo chambers and into other worlds gives you fresher metaphors and reference points.
Similar to other comments – museums, art, music, drawing, making jewellery, ceramics etc. Plus keeping active. Any creative stimulus you can access combined with broadening your cultural reference points through practice and observation. I find one always feeds the other type thing.
Letting yourself be bored. I think the reason why some of the slower analog things people are recommending help is because they can be a bit boring. When you're genuinely bored, I think the brain craves something to do and you can put that craving towards tackling better ideas.
Books, film, music, art for input.
