It’s an old, outdated firm that failed to get in on the PE game in a timely fashion, in addition to many other old and slow things it has done?

like

That’s also happened with Skadden and Davis Polk as well. They are all old, classic white-shoe firms that thought proper M&A was the longstanding practice group.

like

@A4, @A3,

I know but they were behind the curve and the investment funds group are weaker at those firms and have fewer associates generally. There are a small number of investment funds attorneys at those firms compared to band 1 and band 2 firms.

While DPW is band 3, it’s probably one of the weaker ones and Skadden isn’t even ranked on Chambers for funds.

I run 4x4 intervals on a treadmill every 2-3 days, and pushups/hangups/crunches about the same, but somewhat more infrequently. Great exercises to do with little time. In winter I go XC skiing upstate at our cabin every two weekends or so.

I’ve been at a job for a few months and hate it - partners set unrealistic deadlines, micromanage, and create work that truly is not necessary/push urgency when there is no real urgency. I had other offers prior to accepting this job that may still be options, and going back to my old job (for a pay cut) might also be an option. I can’t tell if this is just burnout, growing pains, or just an untenable work environment. Would you ride it out for a year at new job or pursue other options? HELP!

It’s so hard to find time to schedule these things and the associates don’t seem to understand I can’t just take them in the middle of the work day at work. Recruiter thinks it’s a good sign. FWIW they haven’t communicated to me position level they’d expect.

Like is there a perception of us being a step down or ancillary to the big leagues of NYC or not?
