How many interviews is too many? I’ve done 5 one on ones with different people in the practice group. They want me to talk to a few more, but I’m frustrated. It’s so hard to find time to schedule these things and the associates don’t seem to understand I can’t just take them in the middle of the work day at work. Recruiter thinks it’s a good sign. FWIW they haven’t communicated to me position level they’d expect.

It is definitely a lot more than usual. I rarely see more than 3-4 at most. But the more interviews you get the more likely you’ll get the job. After a few it is just to get your future coworkers to get to know you rather than a formal interview, just to be sure you’ll be a good fit with everyone. Hope you get the position!

Thanks that’s what I’m hoping. It’s just exhausting! I’d rather do large groups. I find we spend half the time me telling my experience and not a ton of time being able to grill on firm culture

like

When I lateraled I had 13 interviews, 11 of them with partners ranging from 30 mins to an hour. And I’m a junior…

So, yeah 5 seems not too bad but I do know it’s very annoying to find time for them.

I’ve had more than 20 with the same firm and then ghosted during Covid

5 is usually the minimum at our firm.

Currently at 7 half hour interviews, but I think I’ve finished them now.

Team Financial Planning Specialist or no?
My team is growing more and more to specializations with investment products. (Insurance, alts, ESG) I’ve been wondering if the Financial Planning role could also be a specialist in our client experience. We have two competing ideas; A financial planning specialist would be able to develop intimate familiarity with the planning software, processes, and human nuances. But would a newclient feel 'bait&switched’ to be handed off for this important process?

No response whatsoever. Will emailing them again be inappropriate? I desperately need this job

I am a mid level and have received an offer from a regional big law firm in a non-market paying location. I believe the firm would be a great fit and the location is where I want to be. The biggest issue is money. I’d be lateraling from full cravath in a major market and the initial offer I received is a bit off that (read: 50% salary reduction). While the market is cheaper in some respects, housing is not. How far can I expect this firm to go to in terms of compensation? Any negotiation tips?

I’m have a new theory about why juniors always feel like idiots and wanted to see if anyone else thinks this makes sense. I’m a third year, and am the most junior person all of my teams (generally me, a senior or two, and a partner or two), and I always feel like I’m messing something up.
