How many interviews is too many? I’ve done 5 one on ones with different people in the practice group. They want me to talk to a few more, but I’m frustrated. It’s so hard to find time to schedule these things and the associates don’t seem to understand I can’t just take them in the middle of the work day at work. Recruiter thinks it’s a good sign. FWIW they haven’t communicated to me position level they’d expect.

I am a mid level and have received an offer from a regional big law firm in a non-market paying location. I believe the firm would be a great fit and the location is where I want to be. The biggest issue is money. I’d be lateraling from full cravath in a major market and the initial offer I received is a bit off that (read: 50% salary reduction). While the market is cheaper in some respects, housing is not. How far can I expect this firm to go to in terms of compensation? Any negotiation tips?

First year here. Do associates get fired for not meeting the billable requirements?

As a junior associate, would it be better to work in an office where my practice group is stronger (in numbers, prestige, etc.) or live in a city I love but where the practice group is very small?

How many firms is too many? I’ve practiced 13 years. Since I was a 1st year associate, every 3 years or so I’ve been recruited for another opportunity that is hard to pass up. I’ve been at my current firm 3 years and got the call again, again about an opportunity that is hard to pass up. I don’t like having a reputation of a flight risk, but this keeps happening. Should I decline to pursue the opportunity just so I have a longer track record at my current firm? This will be my 4th if I move.

How do you deal with a Midlevel who tells the partner you’ll cover for them, but gives you less than 24 hours notice they’ll be gone without asking if you can cover? I helped out back on July on a deal with they were on vacation, and now every vacation since they keep adding me back on without keeping me appraised of the deal in the interim

I accepted an offer to work at an Am Law 100 firm in June. I just graduated law school in May. They offered a stipend and reimbursement for bar expenses. I’m have a new theory about why juniors always feel like idiots and wanted to see if anyone else thinks this makes sense. I’m a third year, and am the most junior person all of my teams (generally me, a senior or two, and a partner or two), and I always feel like I’m messing something up. Is this just because I never get to work with other juniors and don’t see the mistakes they make, and that it’s relatively normal? And FWIW I went to HYS and I’ve had a clerkship so it’s not like I’m not smart
