What's the difference between "working hard / going the extra mile" and being taken advantage of?

My current company laid my senior accountant off (due to not meeting EBITDA targets). I disagreed with the decision but it happened anyway. Now I am the only person in the accounting department and expected to do my senior accountants job in addition to my own.

The week after he was laid off I received an offer to work for a former boss at a different company so I won't be here for much longer.

How do people here reduce their tax bills? Me and my SO earn about 400k gross and take standard deduction. We don’t own real estate, only S&P500.

I have a credit score of 720 and was told that my credit is too "low". Is it offensive?

I told myself I wasn’t going to do it. Re-assured myself I wasn’t going to do it. Told myself you’d know what would happen and still ended up gambling away a bunch of money I know I couldn’t blow. I don’t understand.

What should I do with my cash in this environment? Have quite a bit sitting in savings which is obviously not ideal with inflation running high. Are ETFs still the play?

A question from a youngster. Is working at a big big company with slightly low pay better or working at a much smaller company with higher pay better?

In the future, after a few years, let’s say I’m at a small company and want to switch to big big company, will the “small names” hurt my chance to get into the big doors?

I mean big big company is like 10x bigger than the small one if this was a factor. Assume everything else the same, WLB, commute, teams, etc.

My DOJ with PWC AC Bangalore is in the first week of April 2022 as per Offer Letter. YESTERDAY evening I have received an E-Mail stating my DOJ is changed to 03-Mar-2022 which is TODAY. After a final interview, how many days after can I expect an answer from the recruiter?

At the end of the interview, the person told me I passed the interview and they were going to talk to the Director who’s a level under them. It’s a yes for them and they’re happy to work with me.

I also sent my references. I don’t know when I can expect an reply. Recruiters from that company aren’t really organised
