Is non profit tax and other tax exempt work such as pension trusts, private foundations, etc. considered a specialty tax line? What’s the outlook of this field and opportunities outside of PA?

I’m a SM in NFP tax - it’s considered a specialty/niche area of tax. In terms of outside PA, it’s difficult unless you go to a college or hospital, most places don’t have a tax department at a NFP. You might be able to have a mix of general accounting/tax at a NFP but specifically just tax only really exists at the large NFPs. If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Maybe at a lower level (no higher than senior) but I couldn’t transfer to another tax specialty now - I have some experience with other areas but not enough to be reviewing and offering advice. This tax area is too specialized once you get into it - if you don’t want to do it long term then you would have to start over at the bottom in a different area. I don’t even think anyone would interview me for a different tax area because I don’t have enough experience in that area to qualify as a SM.
