I think what ethics rules demand and what people actually do in common practice don't always match up. I have never cared to take anything myself, but I've seen partners send me forms that they used in other firms (redacted of course).
You print them out over several months. You don’t email them to yourself, particularly in the weeks leading up to your exit, or at any point after you receive or give notice.
This. Hard copy is the way. The way to do this quietly is just start printing off all your work products you send to clients. Just click print after you send. For filing purposes, see. What you actually do with the hard copy is up to you. Use your discretion.

Only caveat I would say if the file is under seal by the court. Don’t take those.
