What’s the process of changing employers if you’re on an L1 visa? Should you go through the interview process and have the new employer petition for your H1B and then if it’s successful you’re changing your status and job without leaving the country? Would really appreciate if someone could share their experience!

When does EY start the H1B extension process? My current visa started in October 2019, and will expire in August 2022. When will they start the next process for me?

Hi, Is it possible to find a Strategy or Management Consulting job in the UK without being there? I did Masters from Europe and currently working in Europe. I am not sure which companies consider applications and offer tier 2 or other work visa? Moreover, does referral works in this case?

I know some of my friends are doing EB3 visa (unskilled workers) and they already got GC after 1.5 years. I was really surprise that it takes unskilled workers route much shorter time. So what is preventing ppl from biting the bullet for a year working on farms or fast food chains and gets GC quickly? I’m genuinely curious.

Is it really that difficult to get hired for a federal job? I was interviewed for a GS12 job but never heard back, they still didn’t hire anyone and I didn’t get a rejection. I applied for another GS07 job, was accepted, I took it, but I believe I can do better. I have a master’s and have extra graduate research experience. I am still applying to new jobs but I was told it is impossible to move up the grade level now. Everyone is telling me to stick with the government. What are your thoughts?

What do you do when you find out in an interview that the salary is much lower than you hoped for, and/or they offer a different location (only to realize it's significantly higher cost of living than the location you applied to)? Keep interviewing if offered a next round?

I interviewed for a role in compliance that I want. My core skills are great and exactly what they’re looking but I didn’t have the experience with knowing multiple states reg. They recruiter assured that it isn’t an automatic no, but it’s up to the hiring manager to decide to train on that. He did tell me they are interviewing other people and that they do have that experience but they may not have those core skills. What do y’all think? How could they not have the core skills?

Unilateral NDA required prior to the interview — how common is this?

Hiring managers: let’s say you are interviewing someone with a lot of relevant experience, but may not be totally on point. What’s going to sell you on that person? This is truly a vague question, but are you looking for honesty about what they have vs haven’t done? Can you tell when someone is trying to spin it? (Feel free to also include anything that turns the candidate to a hard no.)

Headhunters are going crazy right now. So many LinkedIn messages, calls, emails...just wow. They are aggressive as well, wanting to place people ASAP before they get swooped up by another recruiter.

I applied for a job a week ago, and still haven’t heard back yet. However, someone from the company now just offered to refer me. How do I go about this? Do I resubmit the app and rescind the old one or do I just let HR know about the referral or something else?
