I love my job and the people I work with, but lately I've been feeling like everyone else has more flexibility in their schedules than I do. How do you find time for yourself when there's so many meetings?

Block your calendar to get time between your meetings.

You are in a great position because you love your job and the people you work with. You should talk to your boss about your concerns and see if there is any way they can give you more flexibility in your schedule. In the meantime, try to carve out some time for yourself during the day or week where you can relax and recharge.

Block some time off your schedule! Take like an hour a day and just block it off so NO ONE can book anything then. It's not healthy to sit in meetings all the time and paying very little attention to your health. Best of luck!

I did a quick estimation and there’s a possibility that the egg retrieval day might be in the end of my client project. The difficulty is that you don’t know which day it is until maybe 2or3 days ahead. How do you guys handle this last-minute PTO day? Taking the whole week off doesn’t make sense either since it’s end the of project. Thank you!

Honest question: I’m training for my first marathon. Does it really matter where I get my calories from? I am burning between 1,000-2,000 calories a day training and my body seems to be hanging in there ok. Does it truly matter if I’m eating ribeye vs lean chicken? I feel like getting to 3,000-4,000 calories a day in a healthy fashion is really really hard. Just from a volume standpoint.

Any Bridge Engineers/Structural Engineers in here? I got my PE this year and have 5 YOE in TX + an MS. What sort of raise would you expect for receiving your PE working in a consulting firm? I am EOR on a number of structures in development, I manage EITs and Drafters (within projects; I'm not a supervisor), and am doing a lot in general. I'm at 78k currently, which is apparently still in the upper range of EIT salaries per a job posting in CO. I'm thinking of 15% (5% merit, 10% PE). Any ideas?

I work at an manufacturing company as a technician. My job title is a technician but they use me as an engineer as-well. There are three techs overall in the company. The plant manager doesn’t know my skills so anytime I’m in the office working he calls me to the floor to do something the other techs can do. Should I have a talk with the boss about it?
