You got fired because you moved to industry and still use terms like “boil the ocean”
Mentor
And escalated over it? What?
Coach
13 days.
Despite being the unanimous first pick candidate by all senior execs I interviewed with, I was fired because I was not the person the new CEO wanted and did not fit the “profile” the new CEO wanted. She only had the title of “interim-CEO” when I was interviewing but the board dropped the “interim” my first week.
My boss, c-level, quit the day after as a result and all but 1 member of the c-suite team was left 1 year later.
The settlement helped my pay off some of my student loans and paid for my little brothers last year of school.
Woah, settlement? You were able to sue for wrongful termination?
Sometimes higher ups can make some bad decisions, but it’s helpful to know the power dynamics before pushing back too much.

What was their official reason for letting you go?
Had a contract job that started and finished same day, before starting the employer lost the contract with the client for which I was employed to work for. I spent all my time in the foyer, all 1.5 hours.
As funny as this may be for some, consider what it was like being a single income family and no job for an unknown period. Trust me that wasn't fun.
OP HERE: all chats be it informal or formal or coaching or something else like drinks chat are to be taken seriously
The nicest guys bite you really badly
I didn't get drunk. The escalation against another Director was same . Just that I was more open and candid
But how long was your tenure?
3.5 months.
What happened?
Director wanted to boil the ocean but OP wanted to deep fry the sea 🤷♂️
My director was equally new in this corporate strategy practice

Op,
Can you give some more details. We need to be careful when we start new jobs

It was a sales job in 2010. I got fired because I was legitimately terrible at convincing people to buy life insurance. Only took it because I got laid off from my finance auditor job a year earlier and was desperate.
3 months. I quit because the role was in a different country and my SO wasn’t ready to move there with me
We weren’t married and hadn’t made that decision when I first moved. Obviously wasn’t going to let go of a great opportunity unless I was sure.

This was years ago, but I left B4 for a tiny boutique (<50 people) for a 60% bump in comp and a sizable increase in responsibilities. The firm had no back office staff or processes, though, so when there was a contract snafu with the client I was on, there was no one to resolve the issue.
As a result, myself and a few others on the contract were pulled off of it, and since there were no other projects for us to work on, we exhausted the whopping 3 days of bench time the firm had, then we all got booted.
Someone at my big 4 left for a contract to hire position. Well 2 months in they didn’t him anymore and he need a job... he was back pretty quickly
I mutual left a smaller consulting firm when I realized it was gigantic shit show. A firm filled with senior level SMEs that couldn’t even do basic consulting skills. It would take them a week to get me one high level slide. Also I took over a high level client after the Director screwed to pooch and the client wanted the entire team gone and had escalated her piss poor performance to senior client leaders. My first meeting with the team was eye opening. Three staff directly supporting the client and they all had stress related disorders, such as ulcer the size of a softball, one was pulling her hair out during meetings and the guy would bite his nails down to the nubs...all because this director.
Needless to say I saved the relationship, got add in work, and the team was happy. She (the Director) got promoted and I got jack, so I said FU and walked out.
