I think it really varies by work history. I would include anything within the last 10 years, anything beyond that i would only include if it added value or showed some type of niche experience related to the role I was after.
Then only add the information that matters. If the role was something very familiar, you don’t need 10 lines to describe your responsibilities, just focus on the key accomplishments from your time in that role.
Resume one page allowable, but online apps you want all your history bc that goes to recruiter and if u get the job in order for appropriate pay scale they’ll need ALLL your history and qualifications in order to count X years of work exp and volunteer and clubs and certs and whatever qualification you might have.
Okay cool I’ll take this on board!
Hey 👋🙂 That’s a great question, typically, you want to focus on the last 10–15 years of experience, highlighting roles most relevant to the job you’re applying for 💼. Older roles can be summarized briefly if they add value, but the focus should be on recent and relevant experience. Thank you! What happens if there’s been a lot of jumping around in that time to where it would take up more than a couple of pages?
I cut off at 10 years. If I needed to nix a role within that time to keep my resume to one page, I would. It's a "what have you done for me lately" world. Your most recent roles are really all that matters.
Yeah more recent experience feels more relevant but I guess there’s always the possibility of a career change.
Over 50, do your best to not includee clue about your age.
I will do!
The primary focus is that last 10 years, but I’ll include older ones with fewer details if they help paint the story of growth. I like to think about the story in selling and align the jobs and descriptions with that.
I’ve never thought about the story but that’s a good way to frame it, I guess that would mean it’s more role dependent too.
