Oliver Wyman fishes, I have 1 YOE at Deloitte but not officially in their consulting practice, but working with a strategy consulting team there. If there are no ‘Consultant’ level openings on the career page right now, is there anything I can realistically apply for? Does Senior Consultant make any sense?

When all trade deals are in place, government is not creating uncertainty every day, stop extreme interference in private sector (big government) and let business operate like a business and not as a tool for the government
Bro did you have to shout “NOT IN YOUR LIFETIME, SUCKA!!!” so loud?
Considering both the imminent retirement of even the youngest baby boomers and Trump discouraging any form of immigration, we will likely see an acute labor shortage across many sectors of the economy next time there's healthy aggregate demand growth, as we saw a preview of during the Great Resignation. When that demand growth will come remains an open question though.

After the recession
It can always get worse because we have a child making policy. He has destroyed everything he’s ever touched. When the US goes bankrupt, the billionaires will be the only ones left standing.
With the rise of AgenticAI creating a virtually unlimited supply of agents capable of competing with and replacing humans in skilled white collar roles, and the mass availability of an inexpensive but highly skilled offshore workforce, I don’t see the pendulum swinging back to favor US based employees anytime soon without some serious government intervention or wage concessions on our parts. Not for the rank and file skilled workforce at least.
I disagree with highly skilled offshore resources. Most are order-taking robots The highly skilled folks are few and far between. They’re used because you can still get 6+ worker-bees for the price of one skilled manager onshore that’s doing all the strategy and thinking work.
We were just in an employees market (all of the pandemic). Look at all of the job offers and ease of movement in consulting on top of much more flexible conditions. I think we are just starting to shift slightly back to how it was before the pandemic
Been with ACN since 2005 so I've been through 2-3 reorgs, economic dpressions, etc. I was even involved in supporting the 99 weeks unemployment benefit back in 2008 or 2010.
Yes, you are correct that layoffs, remote and rto, reorgs, skills evolution (custom apps>commercial software>SOA>agile>digital>cloud>etc).
What stands out is the volume of layoffs and impacted headcount. The overhiring during pandemic contributed to this in 2023-2024 but to continue to have higher volumes of layoffs in 2025 is a stretch if one still wants to correlate it to overhiring during pandemic. I think the AI hype took the money from payroll and it got conveted to capex.
Not US Based btw, I understand the influence (tariffs) though
IF or When HIRE 2025 gets passed into law but to be honest, I am unsure how to implement it based on its original intentions.
Not sure that is a good idea. When employees market, everyone want 6 figures to surf porn all day.
