Yooo same! I Bit into a raw one and it forever ruined it for me.
We cut it in half rings , deseed any fruity pith and seeds ( they are pink in color), sprinkle some salt and let it stand for 15 minutes. It drains the very bitter edge on the gourd. Temper oil with some Indian mustard seeds and curry leaves, add some chilli powder, turmeric powder , add the sliced veg , salt cover and cook for 10 minutes on medium heat. Turn up the heat a little bit , sprinkle some salt and let it crisp. It still has a bitter edge , but this goes very well with rice and dal or Sambhar. There is another recipe for a bitter gourd based Sambhar called a “Pittlai” - it’s too elaborate to detail here , but that probably is the best tamil recipe for bitter gourd . Incidentally it’s believed they clean your intestines of worms and settle an upset stomach. Grandma would make us drink raw bitter gourd juice as kids once a month
bitter gourd? I love it.
I don’t cook but I eat bitter gourd at restaurants in the Philippines and Thailand. Not really sure how it is cooked but I love the taste.
Cheese
All cheeses. I haven’t found one I like. I’m okay with a small amount of cheesecake but do not care for cheese itself.
Runny eggs....it put me off eggs in general tbh.
Millet. 🤢 it’s like eating tiny rocks. Yuck
