Is genetic testing for diseases covered by most health insurance? Has anyone ever done this, do you recommend it.

You can test for specific diseases/disorders. And it doesn't give you an absolute answer unless there is a mutation. But helps you to understand if you're at a higher risk of getting some disease. It helps to know so that you can take steps/change lifestyle to prevent it. Some common ones are breast cancer etc. Not sure if insurance covers it

Insurance usually covers the blood work for the mthfr mutation test

I am curious but scared the results will make me constantly paranoid

I think if it is medically necessary for treatment it should be covered in some capacity. Genetic testing is very pricey, though, and testing just to "check" likely won't get approved. When I talked to my insurance before I started infertility testing, they said they would cover IVF but limited genetic testing. It's weird. I'd call your provider and ask about your specific testing needs before you end up paying out of pocket. Hope you're ok and it's nothing serious!

Genetic testing is not that pricy, about $1000 or less. Particularly if you have family history of certain diseases.

$200 for 23andme.com - was easy, and I know more about my ancestry than I did (and that I have zero disease indicating mutations).

Thanks everyone. I don't have any issues, but several family members have had cancer and passed away from complications from diabetes, just wanted to check what I am pre-dispositioned to

Lot of fear in the market right now (understandably so). The situation in Ukraine is awful and the potential consequences are scary to think about.

There are some who want to sell in fear of their investments falling further. Do not do this. Hold and continue to buy more. Continue your 401k contributions, and add whatever you can afford after every paycheck into your brokerage. Those who sold the covid crash were often late buying back in.

This is the dip you're worried about.

I’ve been at a job a year and have what I would call a very toxic manager. When I first started they were very nasty to me making comments about my appearance, my character and other inappropriate and mean things. I let them know how this made me feel and they stopped however I continue to notice how manipulative and condescending they are. My mental health is at a low. We are about to be at our busy season but I want to leave so bad. Should I wait until after the busy season or leave asap?
