I would suggest have this conversation with your recruiter asap.
Yeah my current employer (tech company) has already started but I’m exploring an opportunity in consulting. That’s why I’m a tad confused to make a move to EY or stay at a current company
In today’s immigration climate with employers freezing their sponsorship policies, I’d recommend factoring this into your transfer process itself. Are you on your first or second H1B term?
You said that your current employer has already started this process. You need to get EY to give you in writing that they will start this process immediately for you, otherwise you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage if EY goes ahead and changes their policies. Talk to your recruiter ASAP.
If they give you some BS reasoning that oh you have 5 years left and we start it only after x years, take none of that. Restate calmly that you’re going to have to leave an employer that’s already doing it for you and this is bare minimum they’d need to do to bring you onboard.
Also, what area in Cyber? Good luck and Godspeed OP!

Dude, if current company will start GC process, and you haven’t talked about GC process with Why would you risk it?

You need to be at senior rank and have 1 year tenure with the firm, and be in good standing (i.e. no pip)
Not necessary , it’s all about what you negotiate during recruitment . Get in writing that you need the GC started in X months - I have friends who have done right after joining ( senior) and in my case 5 months ( senior)
GC approval is part of your hiring/compensation package. If approved, it ll start within a few weeks of joining. If not official policy is to serve for a year before the process is started.
