When flying standby do you folks check in with GA or just wait for your name to be called/see your name get cleared on screen?

I check in so they know I’m there and ready - every time. I fly standby maybe 6-10/yr though, I generally am confirmed right away or via premier desk. Southwest seems to be the one that really requires manually intervention vs United.

Thanks!

Always check in with the gate agent! I was on standby list this past week then went to check in and he automatically seated me.

Good to know!

+ if I’m flying standby, can I still board with my priority group (AA Group 3)?

Yes. But if the flight is really full, they won’t start clearing the standby list until they make it through most of boarding, so in that case having priority boarding won’t matter.

Hi everyone!

This isn’t really an interview question but more of an on-boarding question.
Bit of background- I left my job of 3 years in Dec 2021 for a new company. Initially, I thought the company was great but my mind quickly changed. The on-boarding process was horrible, minimal training, thrown onto enterprise project 2 weeks in, over time, and there is no process for anything. I ended up hating my job.

Fast forward to Mid March, I started applying for jobs again but I omitted this role.

My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about. It would be great for his career and they are giving the 15% jump in base he asked for, however they won’t share what the target bonus amount would be. It’s an executive director position, so I would assume it’s a decent target bonus, but without that in writing it could honestly be a gift basket at the end of the year. Is it a red flag for them to not share this? His total comp could be less at this new job…

As realtors, our worst and best friend are the contractors, being friends with the contractor that remodelled a home you are going to sell is a plus because you can know for sure what kind of improvements were made to the house and why; and what kind of things are pending to be improved, that way you can provide real information to the client. You know what they say: a happy client always comes back to you.

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)
