I’m more concerned that you provided a copy of your W2 and paystub. No prospective employer needs that information.
There should be no issues checking no for current employer contact as long as you’ve consented to previous employer contact.
I always select "no" to that question. Not sure if that made a difference, but my background checks have generally gone through smoothly.
