Where do you all look for jobs? We have 2 recruiters looking, ads on Indeed, and we get almost nothing in response. We are in SoFL and the recruiters keep complaining about how poor the market is. Is it really that dry?

I’ve been applying for new jobs on Glassdoor, indeed and LinkedIn. Except for six months ago, I haven’t been successful on any of them as of yet. I’m not sure where recruiters are looking tbh! I’m in Ohio and as a paralegal with 10 years experience very few companies want to pay for the experience which sucks!

Where in Ohio I am in Columbus. I know a few firms looking

I use ZipRecruiter, not the best. I've looked on here with no luck. I have gotten a few jobs and interview opportunities through Indeed. I actually just went to an interview yesterday and I have a decent feeling about the job. I'm absolutely qualified. I don't like Glassdoor. Great jobs but glitchy platform. Ive never had any luck with Glassdoor and I've never used a recruiter.

Is this for a plaintiff’s PI gig? Because I’m in SoFlo looking to make the switch from the defense side to Plaintiff’s PI.

I try to avoid applying through recruiters

I want to switch because I want to actually help people instead of insurance companies. I recently read Joe Jamail’s book (Lawyer) and that’s basically what I want to do. And because I don’t want to bill per hour. The ceiling for earning money is just so much higher for good plaintiffs’ attorneys.

I have basically been on the defense side since graduating in 2017. I have experience taking depositions, writing motions for summary judgment in eight-figure bad faith cases and other federal court cases, I’m comfortable arguing motions at hearings, and I’m pretty good at legal research and thinking about strategy — pretty much everything except for jury trials.

My goal is to use all of this experience to prosecute catastrophic injuries for plaintiffs.

Feel free to DM me

That’s so crazy because my boyfriend and I have been discussing moving to SoFL to be with his family but I said I would only go if I found a Plaintiff’s PI job. I’m currently in NY doing Plaintiffs work. I’ve been passively looking on LinkedIn.

We just hired a lit paralegal from the Bronx, I guess plenty of you NYers are making the move.

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

I'm worried that if I speak up, she'll make my life even harder. I don't want to lose my job because of this—do you guys have any advice?

Hi! I have worked in management roles in tech, mainly in analytics, for approximately 10 years. My TC has fluctuated (currently around 135K CAD), but it seems like it's relatively easy to breach the 100K bar, but hard to breach the 150K bar. I now work at the CBC, but I have worked in the private sector too. What is the most realistic way to move to 200K? 1) Continue moving the ladder to a VP position, 2) Switch to Pre-Sale, 3) Switch to Consulting, 4) Work from a U.S. company from Canada.

I'm looking for advice from those who have freelanced remotely with an international agency.

I'm based in NYC and have had firms in Canada and England reach out about projects. The agencies have offices in the US but I would be working w/ their international teams (servicing US based clients). I've asked for my standard rate in USD converted to their currency.

Any advice on the best way to get paid? Have you asked to get paid by the US office instead? Any watch-outs for tax season?

TIA!

I currently work at a small PI firm in Atlanta were EVERYTHING is settled presuit. If we’re unable to settle, then it’s referred to another firm for litigation. This whole process seems very atypical to me and the attorneys rarely touch a file until the first liability offer is received. The paralegals handle everything from intake to drafting the demands. The attorney briefly skims (does NOT read) the demand packages and signs. Is this ethical?? Anyone else work at a firm that is run this way??

Anyone know a Connecticut or 2nd circuit case for this rule? I can’t find one to save my life. A defendant generally is liable for all harmful results that are the normal incidents of and within the increased risk caused by their negligent acts. If a defendant's negligence was a substantial factor in producing the plaintiff's injuries, the element of proximate cause has been satisfied and the defendant would not be relieved from liability for those injuries even though another force concurred..

Hi everyone - I'm contemplating an offer from a large PI firm. I'm a little more than halfway through completing my 2nd year of practice, and I'm currently at a small firm with a low salary that's just no longer cutting it.

The offer from the large firm is for a pre-suit position, base salary of $100K - is this salary pretty standard for this kind of position?

Any insight is appreciated, thank you!!
