One key thing that I'd like to mention. NEVER EVER EVER quote your expectations on the very first call. Always keep it vague, like as per industry standards, or something like 'i haven't thought about it yet, and CTC depends on lot of factors, so can't quote any figure'. If you can, try getting some sense of their budget.
That said, 23 to 40 could be tricky. So it always better to get decent hike on the first offer and then go offer shopping. It ALWAYS work.
How can you survive with a meagre ctc?I can understand your pain.. Are you able to support yourself only with this 23 lpa? Please create a milaap fundraiser for your financial situation. Maybe some one with 10 lpa or 12 lpa well earning wealthy person can help in your hopeless situation

First get an offer with average jump 30-40% jump and then go offer shopping over and above; then you'll be able to jump to 40lpa instead of quoting this figure directly to first recruiter

It would take more than 1 year to earn 40L. Better try F&O. In one month only I was able to convert my 25L into 40k.

I think nowadays either you get burnt out at work or have uncertainty about job security if you package more than 40 LPA. It's better get 20-25 and work on some side hustle 👍

In volkswagen WLB comes first .. work comes second … there is such a strong employee union and labour laws in germany that CEO was removed because of his remarks about cutting employee strength … in Volkswagen half of the board of management seats are reserved for employee union representatives… side effect all of all this is that its a low growth environment like 6% yoy hike types

@V1 : Lol. Keep your condescending attitude buddy. 28 is a good number for 6 yoe. That's a 4.5 multiple. Before the great resignation phase multiple of 1 to 3 was the norm. 3 being the highest bracket of 10% upper side. Highest I had noticed was 6. Today it's breaching all levels. But it's still limited to high 10%.
