I hated my time in fincrime, I personally found the fundamental role of the job was to provide solid enough justification to onboard rogue clients if we were ever audited; a total box ticking exercise. I’ve worked for three different companies. YMMV of course. The positives were it was an upward spiral and compliance were rarely, if ever, made redundant.

No. Looking for an exit. I’ve realised I’d rather earn half the salary and be happy than miserable pushing paper all day.

I love my job, but it’s also quite hectic. I have a great team.

I have the exact same experience at MS. We are way too swamped and feel like I’m forced to drop the ball constantly or work 80 hours a week. That being said the people are mostly great and the work is varied, challenging, interesting. I learn something every day.

You don't love your jerb?

Hate mine. Stressful but boring

I have a deadline to respond to a Motion for SMJ in 1 1/2 weeks. I just found out that my grandparents who I haven’t seen since the start of the pandemic will visit this week. I want to spend as much time as possible with them but it will be hard with my response due. I really don’t want to tell the Court that I am seeking an extension for personal reason, what would be a good reason to provide? I clearly don’t want to misstate anything but is there some general, vague language that can be used?

I had a call w/ a recruiter and after hearing about the job, I *really* want it. But I’m worried I priced myself out of the role. I sent my resume/portfolio after and haven’t even gotten a reply that she received it, and I’ve followed up. I’ve been getting recruiter messages offering salaries up to 120k for copy/senior copy roles (which surprised me) so I gave 110-120 as a range on the call. She hesitantly said she thought 115 would be OK. But wondering if the salary could be the issue? Thought?

Anyone deal with this before: I inherited a severely under developed team including a sr analyst who clearly was doing the bare minimum, if that. Over the last 6 months I have had to coach him and correct simple mistakes in his work and recently it got so bad that I told him he would receive a low rating in his evaluation. He lashed out, involved HR saying he doesn’t understand why, and now my review points out stuff that I would have let slide.

Anybody need a new quant? I'm looking for a move.
