Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

It does not matter after a point. Company name doesn’t pay the bills. If you’ve already got a couple of good names on the resume, go for it!
I agree. And contrary to what weirdos on this app like to say, the Deloitte name has clout in the real world
I would also echo that (anecdotally) I’ve seen way more people recognize Deloitte than any other firm (big 4, MBB, etc.)

Is it largely equity? Remember that could always end up being worthless…
FWIW Deloitte had better name recognition than any other consulting firm at every startup I was at before McKinsey. Good luck!
It kinda depends on your area of focus. I made the jump to KPMG from a very small company, this was possible only because I’m in a niche space.

Look at who else works there. Where did they go to school (not that it matters, but it says something if all the PMs are from Stanford)? Where else have they worked? What have they done so far professionally? Lots of these emerging unicorn startups attract top talent where you can make some crazy networking connections. In terms of credentials I’m the “dumbest” person at my startup and I love that in terms of what it means for my network
It depends. You'll have likely better networking at a larger company, which could help down the road. Additionally if your next job is in a different role, the name could matter more or less depending on the role.
All said, I still picked comp/fit over name personally.
