I’d say Xi is a threat to weak governments and countries that aren’t coordinated. Right now, that includes the US. Our failure to act creates their opportunity. Europe will likely be less effected bc they’re leadership isn’t a mess.
^ I’m African (born and raised) and this is correct. China has a disturbingly strong grip on the continent. U.S influence is waning and it certainly bothers me.
At least US is a great country when it comes to treating its own people.
The only people laughing at this have never lived under an authoritarian regime
Nuance is important. The CCP and Xi are major threats to the ideas of individual liberty.
But the policies they are implementing are economically sound and represent an improvement for chinese people.
Realistically the western needs competent leadership to make sure China doesn't become a serious threat.
Unfortunately the last 4 years have given them a major boon to further their agenda. Eirope realized they have been relying too much on the US. The US had an incompetent jackass with an equally incompetent cabinet everywhere it mattered. We need to do better if we want to provide a counter balance to chinese influence.
Isolationist policies withdrew US from the world stage and China was more than happy to fill in the gap.
The average Chinese citizen is not a CCP member. It’s a bit of a trade off for them. They know their party is doing shady things, but since there is economic prosperity, they are fine as long as their needs are taken care of.
Is China a threat to everyone else? Yes.
Is China a threat to their own people? Bit more nuanced. Obviously the dissenters are removed, which is another conversation regarding human rights violations. They don’t torpedo their average citizen, who simply don’t care for politics.
Don’t have to be a crazy rich Asian. Even the middle class is happy to plod along.
Perhaps it’s not CCP supporters. I have a theory lots of businesses and people support China in hopes of bettering the US China relations so they can gain better access to that sweet Chinese consumer market which encompasses a major fraction of the world population and get rich.
I’m not talking about “China-friendly” people. I’m talking about those who don’t give AF about China, CCP, or Chinese people in general, but understand the lucrative market that is the Chinese consumer.
Canada is likely in talks with the ccp to allow them access to our border in order to start a full scale invasion. Be ready.

They have to. Nobody who has lived through communism/socialism will vouch for it.
OP - your knowledge on CCP, China and its citizens is showing... it’s no better than anyone under the influence of western media, which is proving the point of the other OP.
Often times the western world find South China Morning Post English version a lot more objective than others from China.
With the rise of power of China, Chinese citizens start to feel prouder of their own nation, race and identity. It doesn’t mean they trust their government 100%, or agree with the CCP. You can throw words like ‘authoritarian, corrupt, dictatorship’ as you wish but it doesn’t change the fact that Chinese people is getting richer and living a better life than 10 years ago.
I didn’t read your back and forth but that’s a hell of a lot of capitalized letters for someone that wants to be taken seriously 🤷🏻♂️
