Native Americans don’t really celebrate it. I also have many friends who have 1st gen immigrant parents from countries with no Thanksgiving tradition - they also don’t celebrate it.
I don’t know if “refuse” is the right word here. Who is asking them to?
It’s a cultural holiday and people of different cultures may or may not celebrate it for any number of reasons.
One aspect of increasingly globalized populations is people realizing other people are different…

Blame Canada. Their Thanksgiving was in October so Canadians (and probably most of the world) aren’t celebrating “Thanksgiving” this week.
I’m from the US but if I was in Canada and someone said Happy Canada Day to me I’d happily wish them the same.

Well, you don’t HAVE to celebrate a holiday, religious or otherwise. Not everyone eats turkey with family/ friends or watch football or any of that quintessential American Thanksgiving things. So no. Not everybody must partake in a typical thanksgiving rituals
Though I agree it is a bit odd to say that . I don’t do any of the above either, but I can celebrate a super long weekend
I know that they say it because they want to be accommodating to other cultures BUT, if someone wishes me a happy May the 4th, then I appreciate that.
Who cares if I don’t watch Star Wars or care about it! The person who wished that on me clearly means well and I take the well wishes and move on.
Why do people need to get their undies in a twist? Oh. You don’t celebrate thanksgiving? Well I still wish that on the day that thanksgiving is celebrated by others, you have a great day

Some people don’t have families to celebrate with. Like me.

No. Just bc you don’t celebrate doesn’t mean the holiday ceases to exist.
I don't celebrate it, but I do enjoy no having to work

Let me guess, liberal city?
Aren’t most cities “liberal”? But I guess if you consider Tampa liberal then yes

OP: this happens because some people have nothing else going on in their lives.
It’s not the people that don’t celebrate it that encourage people to say this sort of thing, it’s just the underachieving guilty liberals who have no other way of making themselves remarkable so they make a fuss over nothing.
For example, in the UK every Hindu I know, and every Muslim say ‘merry Christmas’ to me and I say it to them. Of course I also say ‘Happy Eid’ and they say it to me. It’s about sharing these events, not cancelling them or dividing them up for specific ethnic groups.
Every person I know moved to the states loves getting involved in Thanksgiving, American Halloween, 4th of July etc.
Why is it every time someone is accusing someone else of being overly sensitive it’s in the process of having a hissy fit over some words on a card they don’t agree with?
Happy blackout Wednesday, if you’re celebrating

Interesting. My kids went around this Halloween and saw a lot of signs that say they are celebrating Halloween and kids are yelling are you celebrating Halloween.
I thought it’s just something they picked up at school but didn’t know it’s a trend.
Yea I see some comments talking about immigrants and people who don’t partake in the activities - which completely normal but hearing “if you celebrate” just feels so odd
Maybe because some people don’t have people to celebrate with…for those people it may not be such a “happy” day.
Maybe because they realize they’re not having a meal, and will be shopping online, playing videos and binging social media - just to be happy to be off work. And nothing actually about Thanksgiving!
I suspect turkeys have a dim view of this holiday. Wishing them a happy thanksgiving is probably pretty aggressive
I haven’t heard anyone say if you’re celebrating at all on my end.
