We’re crazy.
One of the only cities in the country that is centered around a community that does not need to depend on cars to interact. Combine that with a conduit for attracting ambitious people from all over the world and you get a fast-paced, chaotic cesspool that can beat you up but stimulate you like no other place can.
I'm about to consider leaving the country, but I can confidently say NYC was the final frontier to keep me here and there are so many things I'd miss.
This sums it brilliantly A Stimulating Cesspool. Although don't expect a call from the tourist bureau. 😉
Pro
The fresh air of the sidewalks during the summer

Great mayor
We have the best justice system thanks to our wonderful D.A. It’s not like we let criminals out 2 hours after random assaults ☺️
Definitely the best variety/volume of restaurants in the US.
@AF 1 agree with this and I’m from NY
The people. I moved here 10 years ago. I’ve lived in a few cities around the world, but NYC is it for me. A collection of wildly ambitious, talented, smart, interesting, sometimes humble, but also bold when they need to be, tell it like it is people unlike anywhere else I’ve experienced. Add to that generous with their help and intros, and you have a pretty great city. Not to discount the fact that it can also be a tough one, but the bad days just make the good days better.
Because after having a child, I don’t feel like I actually lost my entire life and my identity. I have immediate access to everything that keeps me young and relevant. I rather shoot myself than move back to the burbs.
The food and the fact that you can find a bite to eat at anytime of day
Anytime I to go clubbing or attend events that end after 2am, they’ll at least be an open food truck nearby or diner to eat in
It’s the only population for me that feels normal. Everywhere else in the country I don’t feel like I fit in. I like diversity, straight talk and the expansiveness of the opportunities.
Our subways are the most cleanest transit ever!
Also BACONEGG&CHEESESALTPEPPERKETCHUP
For the safety. Especially for the amazing cashless bail reform policies!
It’s the only city in the US where you really don’t need a car, everything other than moving and doing laundry is pretty convenient, restaurants and bars are A+, there’s always shit to do
An opportunity to make the big bucks and a chance to see human turds on the floor in Penn Station, in equal measure
To brag about how much they afford for rent to their non-NYC family and friends
There’s something here for everyone unless they’re so closed minded that they can only see the bad.
Only been here 2 months but it’s rlly feeling like New York or nowhere 🫶🏽
Because they think they can become the main character in NYC.
It’s populated by the most ambitious people in the world across multiple industries
