It’s true what they say “if you can make it here you can make it anywhere.” The world’s best singers, lawyers, bartenders, or whatever live and work in NYC. If you can succeed in this job market you are going places.
We don’t. We lie to ourselves and try to but it’s trash that’s why New Yorkers travel the most out of the state
Because!!
As a theatre lover, nowhere else in the world can compare.
Other things I love:
You’ll never be bored
Any kind of food at any time of day - I was surprised that other major cities like London, Paris, Chicago don’t have this
Whatever you do, it won’t be the strangest thing other people have seen that day
Multicultural

It can be tough to live in this city but worth it… don’t mind me ordering some obscure international smorgasbord and Michelin rated meal to my door
Good question. It’s dangerous and gross these days and the decline is only getting worse. Be prepared for the 70s and 80s version of NYC.
There's money to be made on dem streets
I love the diversity of ethnicities, cultures, food and the fact that for now we remain liberal.
I moved here in a lower tax bracket and was able to have a blast. It was the ‘90s and I lived in a studio apartment but spent my days rollerblading on the bike trail along the river, at bookstores where I sat and read for hours and coffee shops where I did my homework. There were also career opportunities here that I didn’t have in the South like working on film sets of and with famous people.
Now I’m in a higher tax bracket. I love seeing Broadway shows, sometimes sightseeing with visitors, being in a place rich with history (Hamilton, Basquiat) and where people from all over the world visit, seeing the River from my now beautiful home and even the hustle and bustle. Feeling like I’ve made it.
People. Diversity. ENERGY. Inspiration
All the above when it comes together, you are pushed to be the best version of yourself.
I moved from another city and I can tell I am a whole lot different person, can do a lot of things in a small span of time and more energized and motivated towards life and love.
It’s tough, but worth it.
Work is the most busiest, and since is always so much to do, the only way to do it is by being super efficient, able to do more in less amount of time, so that you can be a part of things the city has to offer. Doesn’t mean you have to but if you want you do become like a great and improved version of yourself.
People are more accepting, experimental, people from all backgrounds, counties, workplace, ideas, thoughts are present and hence broadens your horizon, always learning from people around.
Dating is def tougher but as someone mentioned it’s just for commitment phobia ( both sexes), other words, my quality of dates are exponentially much better than other places, and I am constantly pushed to work on myself and still enjoy (or atleast try to) the process.
If you have to ask, you’ll never know
