"Why do you want to work here?" Umm, how about because I've been out of work for months and I'm so desperate that I'll literally work anywhere... Is this not the right answer to this question?

lol, that’s why they are asking. Imagine you are the hiring manager , you want the right fit.

I wish we lived in a world when we can just be honest and say I’m experienced in this field and I need a job, but unfortunately you have to be a big phony and lie.

😂 tempting as it is to say, no, probably not the right answer. They want to hear some nonsense about how passionate you are about the role and how firmly you believe in the company, its mission, blah blah blah. It feels cringe, but you have to suck it up and tell them what they want to hear anyway.

Well, it isn’t a lie! I would lean towards finding something you do genuinely like about the company and talking about those points. Culture fit is just as important as those technical skills.

I love this question when the job was listed as "Company Confidential" and they still have not told me who they represent! This makes it impossible to give a proper response.

I’m a manager in PwC’s human capital practice. I’m getting recruiting messages from the other Big 4, as I imagine most of us are. I’m interested in hearing about human capital consultants who went from PwC to one of the other firms, as well as people who came from one of the other firms to PwC. Happily ever afters as welcome as horror stories here. Thanks!

I feel like working from home has been the death of my dating life. I used to at least go on 4 dates a month, and I was casually seeing a guy for a while. Post covid, I love my work-life balance but I'm never out. I can't meet people sitting at my desk, and I have no local coworkers to pull me out of the house for happy hour.

Does anyone or know of any finance professionals that have exited to go work in the music industry or entertainment? Offering advice to job seekers who go around recruiters and message hiring teams, execs, etc. You are putting the Recruiters job in danger. If a Recruiter declines you or doesn’t choose to reach out, it is because the hiring team declined you, or you don’t have the experience. You will most likely not be considered for future roles because of this. When I see people giving advice to reach outside the Recruiter, it’s bad advice. Very rare is this a good idea.
