Nice budget dram. Super Smokey on the nose.

Cheers to the long Memorial Day weekend 🇺🇸🥃🙌🏼

Scored these on one of my latest hunts.

Is Woodford reserve double oaked worth the hype?
Like drinking smooth caramel.

My favorite sipper is Woodford Double Oaked. But, my all time favorite bottle is definitely Angels Envy Rye.
Double Oaked is a great standard and go-to especially for availability. Haven’t had Angels Envy Rye. But will keep a look out. There’s so many solid options out there, hard for me to name just one. Really depends on mood / drink (neat , a cube or 2, or a cocktail.)
Been hooked on eagle rare as my favorite when you can find it.
I’m a bourbon guy - typically slant towards higher proof pours…
Lower proof favorite is OF 1910 - super sweet, no burn
Mixer: Elijah Craig
Higher proof favorites to sip neat: WT Rare Breed, Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel, OF 1920
Noah’s Mill is a good higher proof pour I typically do over a large piece of ice…
Favorite - even though they vary from batch to batch are the ECBP releases…I buy them any time I see them…

Jeffersons Reserve very old batch, super smooth for the price and easily accessible

For less accessible bottles, I love Blantons SB but i refuse to pay the ridiculous secondary pricing for it. Not generally a fan of scotch but also loved Lagavulin 16
For normal drinking angels envy bourbon - consistent easy drinker at a good rice point for the level of quality
For special occasions whatever strikes my fancy while choosing! Particular recent stand outs have been whistle pig 15 year, pappy van winkle, and weller 12 year (not a huge scotch guy)
Angel Envy is my got to. It’s a no brainer when it’s only $39.99 at Costco.
For a relatively inexpensive bottle I love Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style. Still working my way up to better stuff
Just bought a bottle of this! Excited to try it
Gotta say, when I just want a good sipping whiskey and don’t feel like spending a lot of money, Four Roses Small Batch hits the spot every time. Really has such great value for the price tag. If we’re talking nicer stuff that is still reasonably attainable, the George Dickel/Leopold Bros Collaboration Blend is amazing for what it costs.
Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Big heat but smooth.

Lagavulin 16 if I need barbecue in a glass. Angels Envy Rye if I need dessert in a glass.
Old Forrest 1920 prohibition style. Amazing flavor. Has some serious heat on it, but still great for a Manhattan or old fashion.
For Rye have to go with the angel’s envy
4R Single Barrel never lets me down. Daily is Smoke Wagon straight though.
Both are great entry level bourbons.

Favorite right now is new riff SB or Blade and Bow (not sure why it gets a lot of hate)
All time is tough, depends on what I’m in the mood for

Second New Riff SB
Oban 14 - the brininess just isn’t as present in any other whiskey, even their 18, it’s incredibly smooth, and I’m not much of a fan of sweetness in my whiskeys. It also balances the peat load better than the Islays.

Henry McKenna 10 yr Single Barrel. A fantastic bourbon, very smooth with just the right amount of sweetness, and a nice long finish.
Homemade. I know what goes into it, I know where the grains come from, I control 100% of the mash bull and I can make it exactly how I want it to be. Aged over chips for a month in a heat/freeze cycle, it’s comparable to anything you can put it up against.
What type of equipment do you need to get going on this?
My regular used to be Buffalo Trace but it's been hard to find so I rely more on Four Roses single barrel for everyday stuff. I find it better than the small batch. I also enjoy Blanton's when I can get it, which isn't often.
Our regular "house" Irish whiskey here is now Proper Twelve after years of love for Jameson. It's just better imo.
100p agree with proper 12 over jamo
Aberlour A'Bunadh
Edit: if I'm drinking bourbon, Four Roses
Glenn Fiddich ‘15 or ‘18. It always hits the spot when I’m in the mood for scotch, and easy enough to buy to always have a bottle at home.
I really like Kings Crown as an alternative to JW Blue. That’s just because it was new and different when I tried it the first time, so mostly good memories.

Stagg Jr. Because it’s the only whiskey that blows me away with every pour
Sons of Liberty Battle Cry is really good but their apple is my fav by far
