USI Insurance brokerage and consulting - thoughts? A recruiter reached out to me via linked in and I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on this company. They seem to have decent reviews on Glassdoor but I was hoping to get more insight into workload and comp. Thanks in advance! USI

"I don't want to disclose my salary details. I want to be paid based on my experience and fit for the role and not my current salary"
I just answer with “next year I expect to make xxx if I don’t leave”, where xxx assumes top performance the past two years and any potential promotions are given
What state are you in? Most big companies aren't asking for current comp anymore. And it is illegal to ask in some states.
You can't say it's proprietary. Either disclose or not. I mention what my comp range is (including bonus amount/potential) and then simply indicate my target/desired range for next employ; if you're realistic, and a solid candidate, they'll meet or exceed your desired range.
“I am OK with you discounting me completely just because I think I have more experience st the salary thing than you do". It is not on and likely to get you sidelined. It is at least a mark against you. Don’t try to play games
You could do what I do and just ask the salary range out of the gate. If it is a job I really want I tend to know the range. If I haven't done any research I have no problem asking first to see if I'm interested.
I'm upfront with recruiters (e.g. hesdhunters) about where I am and where I want to be. Potential new employers I tell them my expectations for next year.
Recruiters will know what you make within a few thousand because you are at a big 4. They can easily put your level and city in Glassdoor and have a good range
When I’ve used retained recruiters, I always expect them to include current comp when they present a candidate. A cagey candidate raises suspicion, so honesty is the best approach.
I always just say, "I am looking for $XX to $YY."
It is the BATNA principle, you have hit that range to get me to leave my current position. I've yet to have a recruiter or head hunter demand a current salary when I have been clear about what range I am looking for.
Why don’t you say both numbers: where you are and what you want. If they can’t give you what you want it’s up to you to continue the conversation. It saves everyone time
Google 1 thought everybody knew about Glassdoor, Rick Barton’s hat trick after founding both Expedia and Zillow. Guess not
@google1 pay bands at big4 are quite wide. I know I make ~$30K more than some folks and I suspect I make $30K less than some folks.
Even at the senior consulant level in a big4 pay can vary by $50K based on education, tenure and performance.
Glassdoor is unlikely to clue you in where anyone sits in those bands.
