Ok be honest, candidates. I really love this set of questions, I’ve been considering shifting my current interview style to these questions - I think they really give you an idea of who this person would be within the work setting. But the questions almost feel too deep for a recruiter to ask. What would you think if a recruiter took a different path and asked these questions instead of the usual ones?

At holding companies there are various layers of approvals.
So anything verbal is not the “truth” unless it’s in writing.
What happened to you was exactly what you said, it’s a request and it’s not a guarantee.
They put in a request to open up a role/opening in order to possibly hire you/give you an offer.
They cannot give you an offer without an official opening.
An official opening has to be requested based on a business need of which that person has to write in the request.
The need can be that the scope calls for the opening, someone quit or got fired, the scope increased or the amount of work materially increased, like an increase in media budget that calls for incremental opening/people to work on the account.
Then the request has to be first approved by leadership then by finance.
These things takes weeks if not a couple of months.
I would follow up within a month if you have not heard anything.
Nothing is guaranteed, a verbal confirmation means nothing in the holding world especially with hiring/recruitng
Holding company corporate needs to approve, not just the hire but also the salary. And, yes, there are salary bands. It’s not necessarily a sure thing.
