I joined a knit-a-long discord group. It’s truly the happiest little corner of the internet and is bringing me the tiniest blip of relief in this otherwise hopeless hellscape.

Madani in NYC proving that competent, compassionate leadership is possible. I actually teared up over his videos explaining how the city was getting prepared for last weeks storm. That’s how shocking it was to just witness the job being done well

Just took a four week writing class online that forced me to think entirely differently. It was all prompts and we had 8,6,4 minutes to write in class. And then you had to read aloud. It feels so good to make something when you don’t know what it will even be.

I attended a vintage show! Got some photos & videos for my blog & Pinterest! My happy place! That’s what you have to tap into! I also like going to Art Museums. I’m in between gigs. I’m tryna enjoy it.

Did you go to the Manhattan Vintage show? If you are in NyC, Ruth Asawa’s show at MOMA is excellent. Love the documentary about her life (it’s on the site).

Every Friday I like to watch Bob Ross. I can feel my heart rate slow down as the anxiety melts away.

Everyone deserves a little luck and a smile. So, I started making hand painted (more nature accurate than you can find on the market) ladybug pins. They also attract more real 🐞 to you when you’re outside (I play golf). They’re about the size of a chonky female.

I forget I'm wearing them sometimes, and when someone notices it, it usually makes them super excited. Then, I’ll take it off and give it away (usually a stunning surprise), and I encourage the recipient to do the same if someone they run into needs a little luck. It makes people’s day, and I get to eat off that joy for hours (or days). And I can tell you that joy is absolutely delicious! I can’t get enough of it now, so I make about 50 at a time and keep extra on me because if I give one to someone, like at a party or gathering, more people flock to me. It’s something to do with my hands instead of doomscrolling while watching TV.

This past week, I gave all 50 I made before the Super Bowl away between that one party and a shoot a few days later. By the end of the shoot everyone was wearing them and absolutely beaming. And I get to make tons of friends without much effort. Time to make another batch!

It only costs me a few bucks, and a lot of the time I get a nice surprise back. People are dumbfounded when I say I don’t sell them. I gave one to a bartender on my travel this week, and he paid for my steak dinner and two glasses of Nebiolo.

I get to hear people’s stories and connection to 🐞 which are often very specific and personal. But to me the represent a late family member and he’still very much an active party of my every day though this little act of sharing. Oh yeah and I drive a red 1973 super beetle which wasn't the original inspiration but definitely on brand.

Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? That will never happen!!!
