Working in a new department at the bank made me realize how lazy people can be, even when their own money is at stake. I had a call from a customer with a claim who was asked to submit a document by a deadline. He called 15 days later asking how to send it. I told him it was too late and we had to proceed without it. He asked what would happen, and I explained the case was now weak and have a hail mary chance.

People are extremely lazy. It seems like it got worse after Covid too. People want to get paid every two weeks but don't want to lift a finger and do any work.

It was more about a customer who wanted his money back and we needed his help to give him his money back and he was just ignoring the requests and then all of sudden he calls back but was too late. But you are right, in terms of employees, there are a lot of them you are lazy as well.

Wow, some people really don’t take responsibility until it hits them. Tough situation, but you handled it clearly and professionally.

Thats right. Sometimes you just have to rip the bandage and be honest with customers about the outcome. I hate giving people false hopes.

Has anyone taken part of the education reimbursement program? I’ve been here for 4 years and I’m thinking of obtaining my Master’s in Organizational Leadership, but I feel like with this merger, if I started the program and then there are layoffs or too many new hires, or work just becomes overwhelming, I wouldn’t be able to complete my program. I’m already wearing multiple hats when it comes to work. Does anyone have insight on how it works/what it’s like? Thanks in advance!

Had a first 30-minute interview with an HR professional at Bain. It seemed to go pretty good and it seemed like they wanted to put me in front of the manager for the second round (their words, not mine). But they didn’t contact me for 4-5 days after the interview so I reached out to them for an update. They responded that they will have update for me on Friday and asked me for a good time to call me. I’m really confused by this behavior. Is this a rejection coming my way?

Back when I was getting started in the food world, I worked flipping burgers at In-n-Out. A man came in and said the burgers he had gotten weren’t right. He dumped the food on the counter and then he started throwing them back behind the counter. We gave him a refund and then his demeanor completely changed. He was calmer and he told us to have a great day as he left us to clean up the mess he made.
