That's an interesting choice. I've done both, and generally I prefer having the weekends open, so I'd rather do my "extra" work after hours during the week. But, there are times when I get really exhausted on that schedule, and it would be preferable to do some work on the weekend. I usually try to arrange things so my hours are flexible, if I'm getting too tired with late nights I can work on the weekend instead.
Yeah I like the idea of having weekends to rest but 12 hour days are rough
I try to work extra hours after my day job. It's a grind, but if I don't keep my weekends free, I burn out fast. I'd rather put in the extra hours during the week so I don't feel like I'm always working.
I hear ya. I feel the same way.
I do both, honestly. My wife and I are saving up for a house and we have our first child on the way, so I'm working as much as I can before the baby comes. I know I won't have as much free time soon and I want to save up as much as I can!
Wow that’s a lot. Kudos to you!
Extra hours, I’m already working that day, so it just doesn’t feel as bad. Working 7 days a week isn’t for me if I can help it. A huge part of the reason I am trying to find a more flexible side gig.
I agree. The goal is to only do the extra hours temporarily and make more money in the long run.
It's a tough decision, but I think I'd rather work extra hours after my regular job. By the time the weekend comes, my brain checks out and I need time to recharge.
Same here. I like to enjoy my weekends!
If I am going to have a side gig, I want it to be extra hours during the week. During the weekends I try to actually relax and do things that are fun for me. I don’t' want to spend my weekends working.
I don’t mind an occasional weekend working but would prefer it to be free too.
If it meant, I did get weekends to myself, I would rather work longer days throughout the week. I think I would hate it more to work seven days a week without a break. I know I’d be tired throughout the week, but then I would still have my weekends.
7 days a week is definitely tiring.
I prefer working for a company that can afford to resource its team properly.
This question was regarding an additional side gig
I do both. I work about 45-50hrs/week as needed for my day IOL job. My team has been short staffed for the last 2 years due to unplanned absences and told we do more with less.
My 2nd job I do evenings and weekends (15-20hrs) per week. I’ve been doing this about a year.
16 years to retirement if I make it. The company has changed. I’m aware I’m just a number and only as valuable as my direct supervisor perceives. I love the company, loyal but also not a fool.
