Actually, you know your workplace is toxic when the longer you stay away from the job the more you dread going back to it. I guess that's where the "All good things must come to an end" saying comes from.
I go through that, I'll look forward to the time off. But then when I return to the job after a week off or whatever it's still the same pointless grind. If the root cause of the problem doesn't change it doesn't matter how much time you can spend away from it.
Isn't that the truth? There's an old Onion headline that sums up my post-vacation feelings nicely - "Man Returns To Work After Vacation With Fresh, Reenergized Hatred For Job".
