Recently obtained my aPHR and I’m considering next steps in advancing my career. I am eligible to sit for the SHRM-CP presently and will not be able to sit for a PHR until 09/2023. Any pros/cons with either certification? Should I wait to sit for PHR or go for SHRM-CP now?

Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? Stub year in a free market firm frustrated about hours. Everyone was complaining about being slow last month, but it seems most passed 100 hours and I only got 60. I’ve been doing everything mgmt says to do but I’m making no progress in getting work. I can’t help but think I don’t fit in here and people don’t like me - especially because I went to a lower-ranked school, grew up poor, and am neurodivergent so networking is hard for me. Whole system feels very nepotistic. I just want to give up.

I made it to regional manager for a franchise by age 22. Ran a successful financial practice & sold by the age of 33. Took 2 years off and built a health & wellness coaching platform for my wife (medical provider). Then, the last 2.5 yrs, have been a top producer in Saas sales as a senior account executive. I prepared a presentation for an interview with a sales leader, it went well and I was offered a final interview with regional manager. The sales leader I interviewed with gave me a bunch of feedback, but said to find out information about tech stack, which I for some reason, didn’t consider. I come to find out that deep, hidden within the website of the hypothetical client, they use the service already. Do I roll into the final interview and play dumb or do i present and then come clean?

Last week at an office meeting the office manager, in front of everyone, without my knowledge beforehand, announced that I was the only person in the office eligible for a senior position. I was shocked and responded in that way. I have to apply for the position and after some thought I decided I didn’t want to do it. How dangerous is crown heights these days?

Any ideas on planning a quarterly retreat for a startup? Specifically for strategy day and culture. Never planned a quarterly retreat before and is not to sure what it entails. I’ve been told agendas for retreats are very subjective to company but would like some general ideas if anyone has any!

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

So, a recruiter gave me feedback that my lack SPHR or SHRM-SCP is causing my resume to be knock out by AI and human recruiters despite my position and work history in Multinationals and being in Technology. They suggested that we put SPHR ( Lapsed). I let it lapse in 2017. What is your opinion? Plus if I were to take another certification - should I take SPHR or SHRM-SCP?

My company went toxic in the last couple months. Chose me and started interviewing. Had a very successful interview with Amazon but recruiter is working hard trying to place me and said there’s no knowing how long to find a team. Meanwhile I just received a Director offer for a company with a 29% pay bump July 1. If Amazon or any other FAANG/large co gets back to me, is there an acceptable way to not burn bridges with new job and accept or delay start date with FAANG? Or fuck it just hop?

Hi!! I’m an HR Coordinator currently (about two years of experience) but my job has so many responsibilities and tasks I’m beyond burnt out. It’s truly impossible to focus on one task because things are constantly being thrown my way.
