Young attorney 2 years in. Really don’t like my current civil litigation firm. Make 55K a year to do a myriad of paralegal and attorney tasks at a small 4 lawyer office. I do intakes, runs to the court house, and motions pleadings, doc review, and almost all runs and deposits at the bank. I feel like I’m doing a ton, and the staff is really hard on me. I’ve been screamed at multiple times. I want to go do something different, but cannot get any traction. What can I do outside of law practice?

This is insane. Just change jobs.

There are other legal jobs. It's time to start looking pronto.

A friend of mine was in a similar situation but managed to leverage whatever relevant experience he had managed to get into a job as a lawyer for the city in the HOA enforcement department. More money and way less stress, also pension and so on. I guess it depends where you live. We’re in a very large city.

Licensed in Alabama but not in TN I presume? Are there other law firms in your area? Have you looked at job postings and applied elsewhere?

Think about what you like to do, about something you are passionate about and start from there
Don't force it and for Gods sake listen to your instinct
It has been given to you for a reason, if a place of work doesn't feel good, they treat you with very little resepect - change where you work, change what you do
Always follow the money and do not settle for less than 80 K a year bc this is the minimum you need to make in today's reality
Best of luck to you

Come and work with me as a partner

Where are you located?

I started my career in my hometown, a city with about 135k people. After 4 years was at the point where I buy a house or move to a bigger city (600k people), I went with the ‘big’ city option. I lived there for about 18 months then the pandemic hit. Since then I still have my apartment in the new city but have been staying with my family in my hometown 95% of the time. I realized I have no reason other than work to be in the new city. Now I’m considering moving back to my hometown. Cont..

Mid-level associate at a mid-size regional insurance defense firm practicing coverage litigation. Salary is capped b/c my firm only does I.D./coverage and has no direct-hire comm clients. Second round of interviews with a comm lit boutique where I would be the only associate with 5 partners. Other than partner track, salary/benefits, and switching from coverage to general comm lit, what qualities of the move should I be thinking about as I weigh my options? I've never worked at another firm.

Anyone know when Ch. 7 BKs must close by? Is this changed by when there are adversary proceedings (alleged fraudulent transfers made to a bank for CC payments)? Its in Texas, and the initial BK filing was made about 23 months ago. TIA!

I have a partner that calls me multiple times a day to talk about updates on our cases. Sometimes just to ask “anything to update me on?” He’s known across all of the associates for doing this. Most of the calls repeat information I’ve already provided in emails to him or the client. I normally bill this time as “strategize on” or “consider XYZ in further of” and it keeps getting appealed. Any advice?

I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.
