I know of a guy who got fired for drinking onsite and being caught by the client. Not because he drank onsite but because when confronted he lied about it
Lying to the client, stealing from the firm (ie expensing random non work things), actively trying to poach clients to your newly created one man shop.
All of those have done it
Know someone who was charging a ridiculous amount of hours (70-80) on a client WBS when you see her snapchatting and on facebook/IG all the time at work.
Drinking problems
D1 I have seen that amongst most newly hired grads. They don’t take their job seriously but are super ambitious on their demands like give me raise, get me in the next promotion pool, give me more challenging work... all this while they haven’t been able to prove their professionalism. Clients hate them. We keep pushing them as non-billable free resources down the client’s throat all the time, just so they could get on-the-job trainings and make them ready to be billable. They just don’t get it. I hope firing one such brat taught others some lesson to take their jobs seriously. I had a new hire college grad at one of my client sites, who wasn’t billable to the client but would refuse to book meeting rooms and would rather have the client carry projectors to Conf rooms than her offering to help. Spoiled brats I must say.
@C1 yes I absolutely agree with you. It is almost like the definition of working hard changed
C1 can a company really fire you for being an alcoholic? Even if you only drink outside of work and it doesn’t affect your performance?
