If you bring the most value out of the team, doesn’t matter where you are located. Someone great and remote is better than some mediocre and local.
Also, some agencies are open but not making employees go in. So essentially almost everyone is remote because very few are actually going in.
Chief
Ignorant and shortsighted but yea the old guard hate employees having autonomy and rely on presentism over results.
I think because agencies are already trying to force us back into the office for no reason it shows that there’s a prioritization for employees who want to be in office. I would not be surprised if that unfortunately means remote hires will be less safe.
Old school? Permanent remote hires started like 2 years ago. The way this industry thinks and acts, yeah I’d bet they’re the first to go. Unless of course they’re friends with the C-Suite.

It is all about business. Being in the office does not protect you. I have seen remote employees survive the harshest layoff conditions. Because they could run the business if they had to, in some ways they are most reliable because they have a very strong track record of delivering and getting work done at many levels, they’ve proven themselves with management and no one has to worry about them during tough times.
If your agency is primarily in person then yes. If people are still hybrid or working from home most of the time not as much.
No. I think its going to be the same for everyone.
