WilmerHale Discussions

Curious as to the WilmerHale Boston rep, particularly how the culture is and whether it’s a super sweatshop.

Interested in litigation and weighing WH against a few other satellite offices … more

Giving my notice next week. I’m likely going to be taking a few clients with me (their choice). How do I transition the case to my new firm? Do I need to file something? And after I’m at my new firm do I reach out to the old one to get the file?

ADA situation, opinions needed. Non-profit religious school is the employer. Employer sponsored benefits plan doesn’t include any coverage for hearing aids. Administrator (8yr employee) went to specialist and very much needs hearing aids. No negative work impact, but likely has had miscommunications bc of this. Would you entertain this as an ADA request as the Hr person or what would be another recommendation? Not my company but the situation has me stumped.

Former civil litigator. Now insurance analyst. Making more than I did as a government attorney, but I miss practicing on a day to day basis. Any advice? I know I would regret my quality of life if I jumped into a firm, especially without any experience billing, but I was thinking volunteer work, pro bono cases on the side to feel more fulfilled in my career. Thanks. Happy holidays.

On trial this week in the downtown courthouse where I used to clerk. Every lunch spot I used to go to is out of business, safe for the corporate chains. Can't understate what optional WFH has done to these businesses and cities. As a parent with young kids obviously WFH is a lifesaver, so I can't throw stones,, but maybe for those who aren't caretakers having to come back in is a small sacrifice for saving these downtowns.

Pivot ideas for an ID partner (non-equity) who is just over it? I don’t want to be at another firm doing the same thing but just with/for different people. I also feel like it’s too late in my career to start over in a new practice area. And lastly, I can’t take a pay cut. Any good next step you’ve taken/seen someone take out of here?

If Party A (an employee of a company, not an officer, director, or shareholder) makes a fraudulent misrepresentation that was reasonably relied on by Party B to enter into a contract with the company that Party A works for and Party B subsequently suffered losses due to Party A’s misrepresentation, can Party A be sued by Party B in his/her personal capacity? I don’t think the corporate veil is applicable, but just want to make sure.

Hello! I’m new to Human Resources (7 months). I definitely want a career and to be quite honest, make a lot of money. I wanted to know if anyone got their masters degree in Human Resources and recommends it or if studying and acquiring certifications should also suffice. I’m currently trying to decide between aPHR and SHRM. Thanks!

Hi all—sorry this might be a bit personal or tmi, but I started big law about a year ago, which has been incredibly stressful etc. since then, I’ve noticed that my cycle has gone haywire, I miss periods or getting multiple the same month, there’s just no predictability anymore. I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this before? Does it get better/does your body adjust to the stress or will this just be my life now?
