Sometimes work can be a blessing. Have a wedding coming up that I did not want to go to, but I just got staffed on a case going to trial on the Monday after the wedding, giving me an out. Gotta work!
When someone routinely "recreates" their time, they risk it ballooning to this. And frankly, this consequence should happen to all such attorneys: http://www.abajournal.com/news/article/biglaw-partner-who-said-she-worked-3173-
Worked w a partner a few times. Told him I’m available for more work, but he hasn’t followed up & it’s been a while. Today he popped by my office and goes “I haven’t forgotten about you” Cont..
Just sent an email to an authority stating in bold letters that the subject was “Comfidential”. Guess I’ll just resign
Finance lawyers, I’m a mid level suffering from imposter syndrome. While I generally understand financial covenants, it recently occurred to me that I have no clue WHY certain ones are included, or how they’re calculated. Like, why EBITDA instead of EBITDAX? DSCR or liquidity? Do I even know what I’m talking about?? Any good resources you’d recommend?
Is it difficult to transition out of doing personal injury to commercial lit (both on plaintiffs-side)?
I’ve worked in house for my whole career thus far. I’ve never worked in Big Law. I never wanted to and I never never understood why others did and do. If you work in Big Law, why do you do it? Will you always do it?
Does anyone else have to remind support staff to follow up on matters? I thought it was supposed to be the other way around. I don’t have the ability to fire, the person who can does nothing.
A close friend asked if I could represent her (pro bono) in her divorce. I’m not a divorce attorney and she’s 250+ miles from where I practice. How do you handle crazy “free legal” requests like this?
How do you think the firms are going to treat this 4th of July holiday since it occurs on a Tuesday??
Working 12-14 hours out of nowhere. Is it okay if I bring some more comfortable clothes to change into around 7 when the office is mostly empty? New to this.
I'm about to leave PA 4 months before my promotion to senior but I hate audit and got 25% bump and found a job outside of audit. Do you think I should have stuck it out to senior for resume purposes?
Working on a piece about the impostor syndrome. What do you wish you knew about it? What advice would you give someone suffering from it? What impacts do you think it's had for your career?
Great read on the securities and regulatory aspect of this space. Apologies in advance if it’s been shared but worth a second read! https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/14/david-sacks-cryptocurrency-interview.html
Working more than anyone in my start class and I’m making less than many because of the way bonuses are allocated if you are not a returning intern. Would I be off base in asking for a raise? (cont’d)
Anyone work for Jabian? Thoughts on the company as a whole? Also what is the salary range for an experienced consultant?
Client just mentioned how consultants are so good at excel because they saw me open Excel without using the mouse (windows key + “Excel”).
Anyone know when peer averages will be released on the lead dashboard? I would like to see how my gold standard ratings compare to the “average"
Anyone ever run into / work with an agency employee you interviewed with and ghosted you, after being hired client side on their account?
