2026 is here and my wage has barely moved since 2023. I'm still grateful I have a job but something has got to give. I really want to start generating some serious side income this year. What are your thoughts about being over-employed? Is it worth it?

I'm a huge fan of side hustles. But the key is passive income. A lot of side jobs require an astronomical amount of time and energy, plus you end up giving a bunch of it back to the government in the form of freelancer taxes. Find things that you can do that are relatively aligned with your interests and hobbies. For example, I really enjoy flipping furniture. It's something I do in my free time anyway, and I just turned it into a little side business. I also have more passive side hustles, like dropshipping and social media content creation.

That's awesome. I feel like I missed out on the drop shipping craze but I'm looking into content creation and furniture flipping. Thanks for the input and I'm glad you've got some passive income! I'm hoping to get there someday.

You may have to jump to another company

Not sure I have the stones to do that right now but you may be right.

I think it is worth it. I have been able to save more this year and not feel like I am living paycheck to paycheck. It is hard work but I don't feel financially stressed now.

Me and you both! I have 2 side hustles now. Gotta have a few different income streams in my opinion!
But also, absolutely push it if you’re not being paid enough, and walk away if they say no!

I feel this too. My pay hasn’t moved much either, and it really makes you rethink things. I also run an Airbnb out of an in-law unit, and while it’s manageable, it can definitely be tiring at times. It makes the idea of extra income appealing, but burnout is always in the back of my mind.

Not necessarily “wellness & beauty” but in need of recommendations. I always clean my apartment, but I can’t keep my kitchen/living room from smelling like trash. I am convinced that it is my kitchen trash disposal and I’ve tried so many things to make it smell good (garbage disposal deodorizer, vinegar mixture, etc.). Any recommendations on how to keep my place smelling fresh? I am tired of using bath & body works products and candles.

Advice needed on handing in notice, I recently signed an offer letter and understand the screening process takes 4-6 weeks. I have a month's notice period and have agreed a preliminary start date in Feb.

I was planning on not handing my notice in until the checks had been completed so its all secured (not that I think I will fail any checks), but apparently I need a reference from my current employer not previous ones. Can't really do this without handing in notice can I?
